TENS
HIRE IN THE THAMES VALLEY
Obstetric
TNS units are specially designed to combat pain in labour; they are more
powerful than normal TNS units and have four electrodes and a boost mode.
The
treatment consists of passing mild electrical impulses through the skin,
into the nerve fibres via electrode pads. Tens works by the stimulation
of the body's own painkillers, endorphins.
When do I use it?
37 weeks is the normal time to pick up your TNS unit, and the normal hire
period is from the end of your 37th week for four weeks.
Do not use TNS before 37 weeks unless under medical supervision.
As
soon as you feel your contractions, start using your TNS unit.
Pulse mode is for use in-between contractions and feels like a heartbeat.
Continuous mode is for use during contractions (accessed by pressing the
boost button} and feels like pins and needles.
TNS
is completely safe and only conta-indicated if the patient has a demand-type
pacemaker fitted.
Cost:
£27.50 hire fee, plus a £35.00 deposit in cheque form, returned
to you on receipt of the TNS unit.
Cheques should be made payable to Anna Foxell. |
